Market@April 20: Day's report

Market opened with a huge down gap as majority of software stocks hit the lower circuit, and remained their for the first half. The sensex touched a 5-month low.

However, during the second half, especially in the last half-an-hour, huge buying took place in several software counters. As a result, stocks like Infosys, Wipro, Satyam Comp, SSI showed a rally from their lower circuits. Reliance remained the star performer, and hit the upper circuit.

Satyam Computer, Reliance Ind, Infosys, NIIT, and SSI topped the volume chart accounting for 61 per cent of the total trading volume on the BSE.

Sensex down 5 points at 4661, Nifty gain 10 points at 1415.

Stocks at lower circuit
Zee Tele, HCL Infosys, Sterlite, Silverline, Tata Elxsi, Himachal Futuristic, BPCL, Global, DSQ Soft, RS Soft, TV 18, Kale Consultants, S Kumer Power, Alok Textile, Sibar Soft, Tata Telcom, Sawaca Comm, GV Films, MRF, NELCO and C-Mac Centum Electric.

Stocks up over 5 per cent
Bharath Electronics, Polaris, Pfizer, Jayant Agro, Kopran Drug, Vision Techno, BEML, Havell's Ind and Mold-Tek.

Stocks down over 5 per cent
Bhel, Pentamedia, IPCL, Rolta, Videocon Int, Raymond, GNFC, McDowell, VSNL, UPL, Crompton Greaves, Bilt, Orient Info, ITC Bhadra, Nirma, Zenith Info, Adam Comsoft, Tata Power, Apollo Tyres, Hughes Soft, Voltas, Modiluft and Bombay Dyeing.
