Market@April 19: Day's report

After a firm opening a large number of software stocks started showing weakness, and came under strong selling pressure. Several hit the lower circuit. However, during the last 15 minutes buying was witnessed in software counters. Satyam Computer led this buying. The non-software segment also remained weak for a major part of the day.
Among software stocks NIIT and Aptech were the two strong counters and both showed handsome gains. Reliance opened at the upper circuit, and remained strong for a major part of the day. Satyam Computer, Reliance Indu, Infosys Tech, Himachal Futuristic and Zee Tele topped the volume charts accounting for 55 per cent of the total volume on the BSE.

Sensex down 79 points at 4666, Nifty down 9 points at 1406.

Infosys Tech, Himachal Futuristic, Bhel, Zee Tele, Sterlite, DSQ Soft, SSI, Global Tele, HCL Tech, Padmini Poly, Hughes Soft, SQL Star, Sibar Soft, TV 18, Sun Pharma, Orient Info, Kale Consultants, BPCL, Cybermate, Crest Comm, Valiant Comm, Yash Managment, Vision Techno, PSI Data, Fujitsu and Shri MM Soft.

Stocks up over 5 per cent
Reliance Ind, NIIT, Mobile Tele, Jayant Agro, Ashima Syntex, Core Health, Kothari Products, ITC Agro, DCL Finance, Atul and Bharat Bijlee.

Stocks down over 5 per cent
Wipro, Silverline, Dig Equipment, Ranbaxy, IPCL, VSNL, India Cements, ONGC, GV Films, Nirma, Hero Honda, ITC Bhadra, Max India, LCC Info, Nath Seeds, Tata Telecom, ATN International, Veronica Labs, IEC Soft, BSEL Info and Bits.
