Market@April 11: Day's report

A drop in the Nasdaq had its impact on software stocks which opened with a huge downside gap. However, during the latter half select software stocks improved sharply. Infosys, Satyam Computers and DSQ Software led the rally. The pivotals segment remained weak for a major part of the day.

Trading volumes were significantly high. Himachal Futuristic, Satyam Computers, Zee, Infosys, and Global Tele topped the volume chart accounting for more than 49 per cent of the total BSE volume.

Sensex up 99 points at 5542, Nifty gains 17 points at 1630.
