Email this report to a friend

The government is likely to work out a policy very soon with regard to foreign investment in the advertising sector.

This is understood to have been conveyed at a meeting yesterday in New Delhi between Information and Broadcasting Minister Sushma Swaraj and representatives of the advertising sector. The meeting had been convened by the ministry in view of growing demand for permitting foreign investment in the advertising sector.

At present, there is no written policy in this regard. Ministry sources said it was decided to draw up concrete suggestions and recommend these to the Foreign Investment Promotion Board.

The meeting was also attended by senior I&B officials including secretary P G Mankad, Advertising Association of India president Ram Sehgal and some senior executives of the association representing groups concerned with foreign investment in the advertising sector.
