Fusion of the hottest and the coolest forms promises fizzy fireworks this Diwali

A Staff Writer in Bombay

She is considered the hottest property in Bollywood; apparently, her form can give the shapely bottle of the planet's coolest cola a complex. Perhaps, it's only well that Karisma, the princess of the Kapoor khandaan, should be contracted to promote Coca-Cola during the forthcoming Diwali season, as if to add to the brilliance of nuclear '98.

Coca-Cola and Karishma. Say again. Sounds swell. As if they have been made for each other.

Coke-makers in India, at least, believe so. '' We are proud to have forged an alliance with one of India's most talented artistes as we believe in connecting with our consumers,'' said Bharat Coca-Cola Bottling South East president George Samuel, while unveiling Diwali promo plans in Hyderabad the other day. The campaign will kick off in September-end.

Any more doubts as to why Karisma? ''Apart from extraordinary talent, she is recognised for being fun-loving and unique, attributes that are characteristic of Coca-Cola too,'' said Samuel. ''Movies along with sports, music and food are the passions of our consumers that we have identified and associated with.''

Agreed Karisma. ''Their products, like our films, are universal favourites the world over.''

Media reports implied that Karisma might have a brilliant and year-long Diwali herself, what with the Rs 8 million contract in her bag.
