'Discussing payments with Karan was like asking Abhishek for money'

Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham will be Amitabh Bachchan's third film of 2001.

Ek Rishtaa -- The Bond of Love and Aks left even Bachchan fans disappointed. Will Karan Johar and K3G break his BO jinx and turn the tide in his favour? Will Amitabh Bachchan be third time lucky?

Latika Sidana spoke to the Superstar of the Millennium to find out.

Tell us about Yashovardhan Raichand, the character you portray in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham?

I play the patriarch of the family and Jaya plays my wife. Shah Rukh and Hrithik are our two sons -- Shah Rukh being the adopted child. However, this fact is not supposed to be discussed within the family. Both Kajol and Kareena are sisters in the film. I really can't say any more than that.

What was working with director Karan Johar like?

It was amazing. Jaya and I have both known Karan Johar since he was a kid. He has grown up before our eyes.

Discussing payments with them feels very awkward; it's like asking Abhishek for money. Karan's family and we go back a long way.

How long have you been associated with them?

A long time. You see, I studied at Sherwood College, Nainital. Karan's mother was in St Mary's, which is a sister concern of Sherwood College. I've known her since then.

With KBC going off the air waves soon, what other avenues are you looking to explore? Would you consider doing theatre like Mrs Bachchan?

Yes, I would do theatre. But that is only if a good script comes my way and if the films I've taken on will permit it.

What is your opinion of the new breed of actors that have made their foray into Hindi cinema?

I think all the new kids are extremely talented and confident. In our times, we had many chances to improve but these newcomers arrive with a bang.

But, then again, each generation has something new to offer. What I particularly like about today's Gen X is that they are really cool.
