Jharkhand Governor Syed Sibtey Razi on Friday sent an invitation to Bharatiya Janata Party's Arjun Munda to form the government.

Munda is leader of the National Democratic Alliance in the state.

The letter, according to a top Raj Bhavan official, was dispatched minutes after Jharkhand Mukti Morcha leader Shibu Soren resigned as chief minister.

Munda is expected to be sworn in at 1600 hours on Saturday.

"According to the information that we have in New Delhi, the swearing-in will take place around 1600 IST so that the top leadership of the party can fly to Ranchi to attend the ceremony," Vijay Kumar Malhotra, BJP's deputy leader in the Lok Sabha, said in New Delhi.

"Munda is expected to call on Governor Razi on Saturday," Amit Khare, a top official of Jharkhand Raj Bhavan told rediff.com over phone from Ranchi.

Munda is expected to take a vote of confidence in the House on March 21.
