Prime Minister Manmohan Singh called on President A P J Abdul Kalam on Tuesday night and briefed him about the developments in Bihar, Jharkhand and Goa and the actions taken by the government with regard to these states.
The meeting lasted about half an hour.
"The meeting was fixed in the afternoon. The Prime Minister came in at 2000 hours and left 30 minutes later," S M Khan, press secretary to the President told rediff.com.

The meeting between Dr Singh and President Kalam is seen in the political circles as an effort to clear the air about the actions taken by the government in the light of opposition allegations.
Opposition leaders have been calling on President Kalam since a week to put forward their point of view on the developments in these states.

However, Prime Minister Singh had been maintaining a studied silence on the issue.
A delegation of National Democratic Alliance leaders is expected to meet Kalam on Wednesday to raise the issue developments in Bihar and Goa.
