Close to 9,000 polling stations declared sensitive in Rajasthan

As many as 8,939 out of 35,689 polling stations in Rajasthan have been declared sensitive or hypersensitive, official sources said in Jaipur on Thursday. Of these, 4,410 polling stations have been declared hypersensitive.

Jaipur district has the highest number of sensitive and hypersensitive booths (1,161) followed by Alwar (540), Ajmer (505), Chittorgarh (459) and Jodhpur districts (442). The lowest number is in Sirohi district (35) followed by Sawai Madhopur (47) and Jaisalmer districts (49).

The total number of polling station this time would be 5,143 less than the number in 1998 when 40,832 had been set up, the sources said.

Polling is due in the state on December 1.
