Promoting sons and daughters in Chhattisgarh

Political ideology does not seem to matter in Chhattisgarh. Be it the Congress or Bharatiya Janata Party the senior leaders are busy promoting their sons.

Congress leader Shyama Charan Shukla's son Amitesh is testing electoral waters from Rajim on Congress ticket while AICC treasurer Motilal Vora's son Arun Vora is also contesting the December 1 election from Durg constituency.

Former chief of undivided Madhya Pradesh Congress Party Parasram Bharadwaj's son, Ravi is in the fray from Sarangarh assembly constituency.

But it is not just that only Congress leaders are ahead in backing the political career of their sons. The state BJP leadership is also not behind.

BJP Member of Parliament Tarachand Sahu's son Dipak is contesting as the nominee of the saffron party from Sajha. In this constituency, Congress nominee is Ravindra Choube, whose mother had held the seat previously.

Another BJP parliamentarian Baliram Kashyap's son Kedar is the party's candidate from Bhanpuri assembly constituency.

Not only political careers of sons are being looked after, daughter of Vasudev Chandrakar, a senior state Congress leader Pratima is also in the fray from Khertha assembly constituency as the Congress nominee.

Sons and daughters apart, other kin also find their name in the electoral battle.

BJP state unit chief Raman Singh's brother-in-law Siddartha Singh is contesting on the party ticket from Khairagarh. Here too Congress has fielded Devrath Singh, son of former party MLA.

And if they are not contesting elections they seem to be holding the reins from behind the scenes.

Like in the case of Amit Jogi, the son of the Chief Minister Ajit Jogi, who is managing the electioneering for his father at Marvahi constituency.

Jogi has already declared that he would not be canvassing in his assembly constituency.
