The Rajasthan unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday promised 100,000 jobs in the state every year and to spend 60 per cent of the budget on the rural sector.

In its poll manifesto, the party promised to waive off loans of poor farmers amounting to Rs 10,000 and set up an Rs 175 crore Kisan Kalyan Kosh (farmers welfare fund).

Going all out to woo the farming community, the BJP's chief ministerial candidate Vasundhara Raje promised eight hours of uninterrupted power supply, a Rs 250 crore 'Kisan Sahayta Kosh' (fund to aid farmers) and a Rs 75 crore crop insurance scheme.

The 45-page booklet said the party would make Rajasthan self-reliant in power generation by 2007 and newer sources of alternative power and fuel would be developed.

The BJP would introduce an Act to check 'forcible religion conversion'. For state employees, the party promises to revive benefits like bonus and leave travel grants.

Listing 61 areas as priority, Raje said, Rs 250 crore would be earmarked for infrastructure development and unwanted loans borrowed by the Ashok Gehlot government would be pruned to bring the state's economy back on track.

Abolition of house tax, free medical care to old people, price index linked minimum wages, new irrigation facilities and women's welfare schemes would be taken up. "Reservation to the poor among forward classes, based on economic criteria, would be a new sop," she said.
