Union Law Minister Arun Jaitley, who led Bharatiya Janata Party's campaign in Madhya Pradesh, has credited Uma Bharti, the party's chief ministerial candidate, for taking the party to a victory in the state.

He said anti-incumbency was another factor that worked against the Congress government led by Digvijay Singh.

"There was anti-incumbency on account of lack of electricity, roads, water and other. There was no industry coming up and unemployment was rising," Jaitley said.

He said the BJP's projection of Uma Bharti as its chief ministerial candidate galvanised backward classes and women in the state.

Despite in-fighting in the initial phases, Jaitley said there was cooperation among partymen in the state.

Looking ahead, Jaitley said: "It's a tough challenge. There is no option but to  deliver."
