Two polling personnel killed in blast in Bihar

Naxalites of the Maoist Communist Centre struck this morning, killing two polling personnel and injuring one in a landmine blast at Humbu area under Balumath police station of the extremist-dominated Palamau district in Bihar.

The deputy police commissioner, Palamau, said the incident occurred at around 0930 hours when a truck carrying a polling party (number-150) to polling booth number 59 was blown up by a landmine.

The deceased were identified as Suresh Singh and Birendra Prasad.

The area comes under the Chatra Lok Sabha seat from where Dhirendra Agarwal of the Bharatiya Janata Party and Nagmani of the Rashtriya Janata Dal are contesting.

An encounter between the MCC and the police was continuing in the area, sources said.
