Speedster V R V Singh, named in the Indian Test squad for South Africa on Thursday, said he would like to maintain his rhythm while exploiting the pace-friendly conditions in South Africa.

"I have been bowling with rhythm now. I would like to exploit the pace of South African pitches to trouble batsmen without compromising on my line and length," an elated Singh said.

"I have been practising hard on the Mohali track, which offers similar pace and bounce," he added.

The Chandigarh youngster said he has learnt a lot from the tour of the West Indies, in which he took only two wickets in two Tests at a very high average of 79, earlier this year.

"I have worked on my weak areas and would be looking to bowl a decent line this time," he said.

Singh said playing in the Ranji Trophy match against Bengal at Mohali, in which he took five wickets, has also helped him get back into the groove.

The coach of the Punjab team and curator Daljit Singh said VRV's selection is a "good investment" for the future.

"He is a genuine fast bowler and can bowl consistently well at speeds of 140 kmph. His arm action is good and he extracts good bounce too. All I can say is that such boys should not be judged on an innings to innings basis, rather they should be groomed keeping the future in mind," Daljit said.

"If groomed properly, VRV can be a match winner," he added.
