Brian Lara hospitalised

West Indies batsman Brian Lara was rushed to hospital on Tuesday, shortly after scoring a century in the Champions Trophy match against Kenya.

The ace batsman is believed to be suffering from hepatitis.

Lara complained of feeling unwell before the match, but after showing signs of fatigue and uneasiness on the ground went on to score 111 in the West Indies' total of 261.

After he completed his innings he was examined by a doctor, who ordered his hospitalisation.

"Brian has been feeling below par for a couple of days but was well enough to take part in the game today. When he came in from batting he was in obvious discomfort and the doctor was consulted. The latest information is that Brian will spend the next 24 hours in hospital undergoing tests. At this stage the most likely diagnosis is hepatitis, but this has yet to be confirmed," said West Indies team manager Ricky Skerritt.
