ICC requests tapes of Pak-SL match

Pakistan's eight-wicket Champions Trophy defeat to hosts Sri Lanka is being investigated by the sport's anti-corruption unit, reports suggest.

According to The Times of India  newspaper, the International Cricket Council has requested TV tapes of the game, which was played last Thursday.

ICC spokesman Mark Harrison declined to comment on the matter, but TV commentator Tony Greig confirmed the tapes had already been handed over. "Yes, the tapes were given a few days back," Greig told the Times of India. "I don't know why the ICC is not willing to confirm that."

The reports suggest that the run out of Yousuf Youhana for a duck early in the innings is of particular interest to the anti-corruption unit.

The ACU has four officials supervising the tournament, is expected to review the tapes in Colombo on Monday.

Electing to bat first, Pakistan were bowled out for a paltry 200 with two deliveries to spare, before the hosts romped home in the 37th over with captain Sanath Jayasuriya slamming an unbeaten century.

Pakistani captain Waqar Younis said he was aware the tapes had been requested. "Yes, I have heard about the inquiry," Younis said in Colombo. "But I am not in a position to comment on the whole issue. "All I will say is we have played our cricket in an honest manner."
