Khan, Nehra face make-or-break fitness tests

Left-arm pacemen Zaheer Khan and Ashish Nehra will get a final chance to make India's squad for their three-Test series against South Africa when they undergo fitness tests on Tuesday.

Khan missed the ongoing one-day triangular series against host South Africa and Kenya because of a leg injury while Nehra has been out of action for over two months with a groin strain.

"They will be tested on Tuesday morning and the Test team will be chosen later in the day," a BCCI official said on Monday.

Khan and Nehra have both said they are confident of passing the tests before the Test matches starting next month.

Batsman Vangipurappu Laxman, who underwent surgery on his right knee in August to repair torn ligaments, is flying out later on Monday to bolster the team for the last two one-day matches ahead of the Tests.

India suffered a blow last week when opening batsman Sadagopan Ramesh ruled himself out of the Tests after failing to recover from a back injury.

All-rounder Hemang Badani, nursing a back problem, has also been ruled out.
