Arrest warrant against Prabhakar stayed

The Uttaranchal high court on Thursday stayed the arrest of former Test cricketer Manoj Prabhakar, an accused in a chit fund scam, for three weeks.

Justice P C Verma, while granting the stay asked the police to file an affidavit in this regard.

Prabhakar's lawyer U P Singh filed a petition before the high court, pleading that the former cricketer is not guilty in the case and the arrest warrant against him should be put on hold.

A Haldwani court last month had issued a non-bailable warrant against Prabhakar in connection with a chit fund scam.

Meanwhile, the Assistant Director General of Police Anil Raturi said on Friday, "We are in the process of studying the court's orders. An affidavit will be filed within the stipulated period as ordered by the high court."
