Sena demonstrates outside Azhar kin's home

Our Correspondent in Bombay

A group of 300 Shiv Sena activists took out a morcha (rally) to former Indian cricket captain Mohammed Azharuddin's father-in-law Motilal Bijlani's residence in Khar, suburban Bombay, demanding that action be taken against the cricketer after the Central Bureau of Investigation reported that he had admitted fixing some matches.

Vijay Malankar, Shiv Sena shakha pramukh from Khar, told rediff.com that Bijlani, father of former actress Sangeeta Bijlani, was at home at the time, but fled on seeing the morcha.

The Shiv Sena activists shouted slogans outside Bijlani's house and presented a garland of slippers to the watchman of the building with instructions to deliver it to Azharuddin.

"We want some action against all the cricketers because they have cheated our country and they should be punished," said Malankar.

On Sunday, the Shiv Sena is organising a meeting near National College, Bandra, to gather support against all the cricketers whose names have emerged in the match-fixing scandal.
