India out of under-15 World Cup

Holders India went out of the under-15 Costcutter World Cup in the rain on Wednesday night after the West Indies fought back to tie their Group A match at Eton.

The West Indians now play tournament favourites South Africa at Hove, next Tuesday, in the second semi-final.

In the first semi-final, Pakistan meet England, at Chelmsford on Saturday. Their match against Zimbabwe on Wednesday was abandoned.

After India were all out for 228 in 49 overs, with opener A T Rayudu scoring 116 of those runs, the rain came. Which meant that under the Duckworth-Lewis method, the West Indies had to score 173 off 29 overs.

In the event they scored 172 for six, with 58 for Lendle Simmons, nephew of West Indian Test player Phil, and a quickfire 34 from all-rounder Ravi Rampaul. The West Indies were declared winners on net run-rate.
