BPL Mobile begins offering CPP services

BPL Mobile Managing Director K S Jayanth Kumar has said the new policy is being implemented in the 'MOTS' (mobile on the spot) or the prepaid card product, which is being targeted by those who do not want monthly rental, no security deposits and absolute control over their spending.

While reluctant to guess on the increase of its share with the CPP, Jayanth Kumar said BPL Mobile would increase its subscriber base to around 200,000 by the end of the current financial year.

Jayanth Kumar said the CPP would, while increasing the number of subscriber, also add substantially to the usage of mobile telephony.

BPL Mobile, which provides accessibility to its subscribers in 52 towns in Maharashtra and Goa, currently has a share of 52 per cent amongst cellular operators.

With the introduction of CPP, Mobile Phone service would become affordable for the common man, Jayanth Kumar claimed and added it would not lead to more people using mobile - phones, but also higher usage per subscriber.

He said BPL Mobile has deployed the latest 'synchronous digital hierarchy' technology which not only provides larger capacity and flexibility but also quicker expansion, thereby avoiding congestion.

BPL Mobile currently offers the largest range of products in the mobile phone services market in Maharashtra and Goa, catering to different customer segments, he said.
