Bangalore University and Aptech tie upBangalore University and Aptech Limited, a global technology major, have announced a strategic alliance to launch the 'bachelor of computer application' degree course through distance learning methods.
Students who have completed 10+2, PUC or equivalent in any discipline with mathematics as one of the subjects, will be eligible to take up this industry-specific course that is offered through correspondence all over India via the Aptech Computer Education Centres. Bangalore University Vice-Chancellor Dr N R Shetty said, "Bangalore University is known for its excellence in education. In our endeavour to produce top quality IT professionals who can compete in the global IT marketplace, the university has tied up with Aptech Limited to jointly introduce this BCA degree programme. Students of the programme will now have the best of sound instructional design methodologies and state of art practical learning. Bangalore University expects to enrol over 1,000 students from the cities of Bangalore and Goa itself." Aptech Limited Executive Director Pramod Khera said "As per the Prime Minister's IT Task Force projections, to achieve a $50 billion software export target by 2008, India will need over one million software development professionals. This novel offering along with Bangalore University will certainly help address this core issue of creating the required skilled workforce." Aptech Computer Education currently trains over 250,000 students through its vast network of over 900 centres. Bangalore University has been running a number of educational programmes right up to post-doctoral levels in multiple disciplines.
