NSE upgrades software toward Y2K compliance

Today, NSE members were able to use the Y2K compliant version 6.91 of NEAT or the 'National Exchange for Automated Trading'.

The software download was completed over the weekend and trading was carried out successfully today on the new version.

National Stock Exchange of India Limited recognises that the arrival of 2000 poses a unique worldwide challenge to the ability of all systems to recognize the date change from December 31,1999 to January 1, 2000.

NSEIL has invested substantial resources in terms of equipment and manpower to make all its systems Y2K ready.

The exchange has successfully completed testing of its computer systems after conducting exhaustive mock trading sessions from the primary site at Bombay and from a backup site at Pune to simulate live market conditions for all-important 2000 dates.

This has enabled trading members to ascertain the 2000 readiness of NSEIL applications and any other systems deployed at the member offices, an NSE release said.
