Cellular companies blamed for flouting policyUnited Consumers of India has strongly objected the revision in rent charges by cellular companies as per the proposals of Telecom Regulatory Authority of India without providing facilities that have to go with the hike.UCI, in a memorandum, has pointed out the ministry of telecommunications that as per TRAI's proposal, cellular companies have raised the rent from Rs 156 to Rs 600 per month without providing the free incoming call facility.
UCI said that previously meter reading on the cellular phone was as per consumption in seconds but due to the TRAI's new policy a slab of a minimum of 20 seconds has to be introduced. UCI commented that this policy penalises cellular subscribers and they have to pay more. The consumer body has claimed that several subscribers have started surrendering their cellular phones because of defective policy and urged the government to look into it. UNI |
