Cognizant Tech sets up Pune centre

Email this story to a friend. Cognizant Technology Solutions, a leading US based applications outsourcer that provides software development and maintenance services, has inaugurated its latest software development centre in Pune.

CTS Chairman and CEO Kumar Mahadeva inaugurated the centre. The new centre, the seventh of the company, besides four in Madras and two in Calcutta, will employ about 250 software professionals over the next 12 months.

"Pune is an important part of our growth strategy in view of our considerable pool of expertise in new software technology in this part of the world and the centre would focus on providing solution in the areas of Internet technology and componentware," claimed company President Lakshmi Narayan.

Narayan has said that CTS has invested Rs 1 billion in its five years of operations and plans to invest another Rs 1 billion over the next two to three years.

A 100 per cent export oriented company, CTS, Narayan said, has touched Rs 1.13 billion in exports during 1997-98 and this year it estimates a growth by 500 per cent.

The turnover during the three quarters of this financial year has been over Rs 2 billion.

The Pune centre would concentrate on the development and implementation of software engineering processes for providing solutions in these technologies.
