Infotech ties up with NavionicsInfotech Enterprises has entered into an agreement with Navionics of Italy, world leader in the production of seamless marine electronic charts, for digitisation and conversion services.As per the pact, Infotech will be converting the navigation charts of the world for Navionics over the next two years.
Navionics will move its current production facilities in Italy and the US to Hyderabad, while Infotech will set up a centre of excellence for Navionics by assigning 30-40 engineers specially trained in marine and navigational technologies. Navionics is engaged in the design, manufacture and marketing of marine electronics chart systems for commercial, recreational and governmental markets around the world. Infotech provides a wide range of software services for digitisation, CAD/GIS applications development, enterprise software and Internet solutions. After the signing of the agreement, Navionics President Ing Giuseppe Carnevali expressed satisfaction over the facilities available with Infotech and hoped that Hyderabad would soon emerge as the largest marine chart production centre in the world. Infotech Managing Director B V R Mohan Reddy described the agreement as a milestone for the company and said it provided and excellent opportunity to the company to work in the new areas of marine navigation after having successfully handled projects for creation of data for automobile, rail and street navigation.
