Indian company unveils Net communication product

In the first phase of the launch Scanfax will be introduced in the four metros of Bombay, New Delhi, Calcutta and Madras from today.

In the second phase, which will commence in January-February 2000, it will be introduced in the state capitals and other major cities of the country.

The third phase, which will be launched in July-August, will cover overseas destinations.

Scanfax, which has been conceptualised, designed and developed by Pyramid Cyberway in Calcutta in association with Scansoft Inc, USA, is the first comprehensive office communication software to be launched in India.

Scanfax, can send multiple documents like colour photographs, letters via email as an attachment or deliver it to any fax machine anywhere in the world.

The biggest advantage of the Scanfax is that the receiver receives the attachment as a self-viewing file. The software also offers features like editing, highlighting, adding notes on scanned images, an electronic filing cabinet where scanned documents can be retrieved by searching key words, auto picture correction, optical character recognition, unit conversion calculator, fax, email and auto dialling to the Internet.

The Scanfax allows seamless integration with MS Office and WinZip from its desktop and links to 185 different applications. This software allows one to schedule faxes and includes a Rs 5,000 value store and forward dialler for free.

Speaking at the launch, Umaesh Khaitan, director, Pyramid Cyberway Limited, claimed ''Scanfax is a revolutionary office communication tool specifically developed to increase the working efficiency of any user and drastically reduce the communication costs of the organisation.''
