Questions S S Barnala Didn't Answer

Jaishree (Wed Sep 15 1999 4:58 IST)
Namasteji, there is a strong feeling that the BJP caused the Kargil conflict since the elections were an oncoming reality. And they used the Kargil issue as an election plank. How do you react to this charge sir?

Hassan (Wed Sep 15 1999 5:8 IST)
Barnalaji, what do you promise the electorate this time of elected? The history of Indian politics is strewn with broken promises

s k (Wed Sep 15 1999 5:26 IST)
To Mr Barnala: What are the qualifications of Sonia to seek the prime ministership when she has never held any job in her life? Can one go from total uninvolvement in politics, to suddenly being the prime minister of one-sixth of the human race in one leap?

s k (Wed Sep 15 1999 5:44 IST)
Mr Barnala: What do you feel is the real reason behind Sonia Gandhi's entry into politics? She had no prior political involvement, and yet suddenly she then leapt for the highest office in the land. Is it her little entourage which surrounds her, that has put her upto this?

MahendraKShukla (Wed Sep 15 1999 5:34 IST)
Dear Mr. Barnala, In the emerging political campaign, the major issues of this election -- unemployment, poverty, lack of national character, and corruption at large -- are left behind. In their place personal remarks have attained major proportions. Please let me know your views as a politician and as a person. mahendrakshukla@netscape.net

Mr S S Barnala: What is the credibility of Congress' claim to providing stability, when it was the one that destabilized the BJP govt, without being prepared to provide an alternative govt of its own?

BAJWA (Wed Sep 15 1999 5:42 IST)
MR. BARNALA AKALIS HAVEN'T DONE ANYTHING FOR THE STATE'S WELFARE/

BAJWA (Wed Sep 15 1999 5:43 IST)
I WAS AKALI, BUT NOW I THINK I SHOULD CHANGE THE STAND

BAJWA (Wed Sep 15 1999 5:45 IST)
BARNALA JI WHAT IS THE POSITION OF KABUL SINGH IN THE AKALIS NOW?

BAJWA (Wed Sep 15 1999 5:48 IST)
BUT BARNALAJI, AKALIS ARE GOING TO LOOSE FEW SEATS THIS TIME,WAT YA SAY

s k (Wed Sep 15 1999 5:52 IST)
Mr Barnala: Should candidates be allowed to contest from electoral constituencies that they do not even reside in, or otherwise have no connection with? Doesn't such conduct make one a carpetbagger, who is contesting from the constituency for their own benefit, and not for the benefit of the constituency?

BAJWA (Wed Sep 15 1999 5:53 IST)
BARNALAJI, WHAT YA THINK. HOW MANY SEATS YOU ARE GOING TO WIN IN PUNJAB THIS TIME

jagdeep (Wed Sep 15 1999 5:59 IST)
Sat Sri Akal, Surjit Singhsahab. I have always held you in high regard because of your gentlemanly conduct unlike some of the other Akali leaders. But don't you think some of the actions of the kin of some Punjab ministers are atrocious, especially the allegations of rape? How do you defend such conduct?

BAJWA (Wed Sep 15 1999 6:0 IST)
COZ OF JATHEDAR BEING OUSTED AKALIS ARE NOT GOING TO GET ONE SEAT IN PUNJAB

BAJWA (Wed Sep 15 1999 6:1 IST)
BARNALA JI TUSI MEINU JAWAB KON NAHIN DINDE

BAJWA (Wed Sep 15 1999 6:7 IST)
PAR BARNALAJI, JEHRE 30 SAAL TO POLITICS WHICH AA US NU MINISTRY KYON NAHIN MILLI

jagdeep (Wed Sep 15 1999 6:9 IST)
Don't you think G S Tohra's exit has weakened the Shiromani Akali Dal? Was it wrong on Tohrasahab's part to be ambitious and hope for the chief ministership? Why should it be a monopoly of Parkash Singhsahab?

BAJWA (Wed Sep 15 1999 6:12 IST)
I THINK MR BADAL HAS TRIED TO GAIN A MONOPOLY THIS TIME BY OUSTING MR TOHRA

jagdeep (Wed Sep 15 1999 6:13 IST)
There are attempts by Pakistan to revive terrorism in Punjab. What is your government in the state doing to curb this tendency? Now you can't blame the Union government either, since you are part of it. Or is it because your government was pulled down that terrorism is trying to raise its head again?

jagdeep (Wed Sep 15 1999 6:18 IST)
Surjitsahab, are you there?

jagdeep (Wed Sep 15 1999 6:23 IST)
But it is not Pakistan alone, Surjitsahab. A substantial number of Sikhs settled abroad also dream of a Khalistan. What is the Akali Dal's stand on this issue? And how do you feel about such anti-national people getting the PIO cards and misusing them in future?

dony (Wed Sep 15 1999 6:23 IST)
Don't you think it was very logical on part of authorities to take care of lives of all? Was it not just a stunt that it was made a religious issue ignoring facts?

dony (Wed Sep 15 1999 6:30 IST)
Barnalaji - Being food and civil supply minister, can you please tell what happened to investigations started against manfrs and the traders found involved in contamination of mustard oil last year ?

dony (Wed Sep 15 1999 6:30 IST)
Thankyou Barnalaji! All the best!

Mann (Wed Sep 15 1999 7:28 IST)
Are you still there, Barnalaji?
