Questions Mr Barnala did not answer

Mukund (Tue Jul 22 1997 21:13 IST)
Mr Barnala: What kind of President does India require?

Tegh Bahadur (Tue Jul 22 1997 21:15 IST)
I salute one of the most decent men in Indian politics. Sir, why have you entered the vice-presidential contest when you know you won't win?

Happy Arora (Tue Jul 22 1997 21:17 IST)
Mr Barnala, how do you react to the cries of human rights violation in Punjab. Do you think terrorism can be contained with 'soft, humane' tactics?

Mukund (Tue Jul 22 1997 21:19 IST)
Mr Barnala: What powers does the vice president of India have to make a difference in cleaning up todays dirty politics? What do you plan to do if you win?

anurag (Tue Jul 22 1997 21:24 IST)
In light of the report that groups such as (World Sikh Youth something) is spearheading a campaign to revive militancy in Punjab with the help of ISI. Under such circumstances shouldn't the Indian gov't step up its intelligence operations in the US and Canada. Shouldn't our gov't take an active initiative to nip this in the bud.

Anil Deshmane (Tue Jul 22 1997 21:30 IST)
Mr Barnala: But isn't the public being taken for a royal ride at their expense by the current government'S??????? How do you justify what has happened in the last 2 years?

anurag (Tue Jul 22 1997 21:32 IST)
A follow-up to your reply: The perception that Punjab police has is (rightly or wrongly) that the Punjab Gov't does not support IT! Under these circumstances how can we expect them to work their best. Certainly, you can't argue that this perception exists. Shouldn't the gov't take some proactive steps to eradicate this perception?

anurag (Tue Jul 22 1997 21:44 IST)
How do you define "Good relations". Is good relations only friendship between two governments. Is security of it's border's and people important? How can you have good relations when one nation fights a proxy war with the other. When one nation constantly executes terrorist acts against the other. India should FIRST get in position to deal with these issues before dreaming of "good relations" with it's neighbor. Comments?

anurag (Tue Jul 22 1997 21:58 IST)
Mr. Barnala I don't agree with your first priority. The first priority of any gov't should NOT be to "keep peace" as you said, but to PROTECT its people at all cost. If it's through peace, then fine, if not, then the gov't must do whatever it takes to ensure that the people and it's border's are well protected. Comments?

''Surjit Singh Ji I fully agree to you but why we are inviting Pope or Dalai Lama. "
