A N Sen-Hi-We R all responsible for derailing India's progress,by electing these 540 odd clowns to rule us. Secondly I feel the concept of DEMOCRACY is responsible too.We have failed at it and we do not deserve it.

Kalyan (Fri Aug 15 1997 1:44 IST)
I was completing some work. Got a deadline tomorrow. I'll be done in a couple of minutes.

bulusu (Fri Aug 15 1997 1:46 IST)
Definition of democracy is no more 'of the people, by the people and for the people' rathe it is OFF the people, BUY the people and FAR the people

Tasmin Roy (Fri Aug 15 1997 1:50 IST)
Mr Cho Ramaswamy: Considering the great number of problems India faces today, don't you think the country will split into many tiny nations much before 2047 A D?

bulusu (Fri Aug 15 1997 1:52 IST)
It is IMPOSSIBLE for India to split into rubbles....

bulusu (Fri Aug 15 1997 1:54 IST)
It is a great nation and I can foresee the political imbroglio which has been persistent for the past few years is going to end. .. (interpretation borrowed from Nostradamus...)

bulusu (Fri Aug 15 1997 1:55 IST)
It needs souls like us to agglomerate and thereby ameliorate the state of affairs r u guys ready.....

However I feel you have in the last 10 years or so restricted yourself to Tamil magazines and Tamil politics. I am wondering why you are not so active in the national media anymore.

Tarun Malhotra (Fri Aug 15 1997 2:23 IST)
Mr. Cho, I have observed that for most of the Indians here Independance day have no meaning , they just gathered at the embassy to talk about there business. The embassy staff here was performing the function as if it was a burden on them , there was no delight and it looked as if they are celebrating independance day for the first time. Foreign guests were laughing at the mistakes made in the celebration. Why do we find Indians outside India to behave in such a manner. What do you think are Indians loosing the meaning of INDEPANDANCE.. Mr. CHO PLEASE PUBLISH THIS IN THE PRESS..

RRB (Fri Aug 15 1997 2:23 IST)
Kalyan: Who the hell told you BJP is not Casteist ? Of course, they can`t be too open about it since they need to fool the others into voting for them.

Mr. Cho : Perhaps your prejudice is getting the better of your judgement. Surely it is apparent to you that in the present society, any party that wants to represent all sections will end up cheating the most gullible, as the congress has done ?

Mr.Rsamaswamy, why do you think that the seperatist movment is growing so fast in various parts of India & the speretist activities so violent that they pose danger to India?

Kalyan (Fri Aug 15 1997 2:51 IST)
Cho, I have enjoyed your columns in Sunday, Illustrated weekly etc a lot. I have found them to be witty, funny, intelligent, unbiased and without any regard for political correctness. However I feel you have in the last 10 years or so restricted yourself to Tamil magazines and Tamil politics. I am wondering why you are not so active in the national media anymore.

DeshBhakth (Fri Aug 15 1997 2:52 IST)
kalyan you seem to be doing cut-n paste, that is unfair to Mr Cho

Kalyan (Fri Aug 15 1997 2:52 IST)

Mr.Cho thanks for your views on donkey parties. We hope some thing as happened in the last elections in TN, to happen in central also.

DeshBhakth (Fri Aug 15 1997 3:5 IST)
Mr Cho what do you think is the reason for mafia in Mumbai i.e. Gulshan kunar's slaying

Amman (Fri Aug 15 1997 3:5 IST)
Mr.Kalyan, comapared to many states in India, TN is in a better position today. If not at the top.

Kalyan (Fri Aug 15 1997 3:8 IST)
Cho, do you think the dravidian movement died when Jayalalitha, a Brahmin became the CM? If the Dravidian movement was not casteist what was it? What were its effects in retrospect?

Kalyan (Fri Aug 15 1997 3:11 IST)
Cho, what worries me most about the country today is all these agitations, violence and the attempts of the politicians to divide the country further. What do you think could rectify or at least improve the situation?

RRB (Fri Aug 15 1997 3:12 IST)
Mr. Cho: Thank you for the answer. Perhaps I would record my differences and leave it that 1. The Dravidian movement has very much to do with caste:it is a rebellion against the Vedic/Bramanic/Aryan sects that launched the Caste system around 3rd C A.D and spread to the south in the 6th C A.D 2. Assam is a Conflict involving tribals, muslims and Hindus 3. In Kashmir and Punjab, Pak. exploited an existing alienation very much rooted in religion inturn rooted in caste way back in history. Our enemies will always exploit our internal contradictions which we should tackle first. In ignoring this and putting primary blame on foreigners, India's ruling elite is seeking to deflect criticism from itself.

Kalyan (Fri Aug 15 1997 3:12 IST)
Cho, looking back do you think dividing the country into states on linguistic basis was correct? And do you feel states like MP, Bihar, UP, Maharashtra be further divided?

Amman (Fri Aug 15 1997 3:13 IST)
Mr.Rajiev Gandhi, when there is a will there is a way.

Rajiev Gandhi (Fri Aug 15 1997 3:13 IST)
I think we should come up with a new Idea , a fresh idea about the administrative system in India , A new way of government formation.

DeshBhakth (Fri Aug 15 1997 3:14 IST)
I think Kesiri should be given a piece of land and made the PM. same goes to Laloo etc

Kalyan (Fri Aug 15 1997 3:15 IST)
Cho, looking back do you think dividing the country into states on linguistic basis was correct? And do you feel states like MP, Bihar, UP, Maharashtra be further divided?

Rajiev Gandhi (Fri Aug 15 1997 3:15 IST)
Mr. Aman we need someone to follow the way too

Kalyan (Fri Aug 15 1997 3:15 IST)
