Unions to protest move to introduce insurance bill in Parliament

Email this report to a friend

Trade unions in the Life Insurance Corporation of India and General Insurance Corporation have threatened to launch nationwide strike if the government goes ahead to introduce the insurance bill in Parliament.

The All India LIC Employees Federation has said in a statement that the strike will begin the day after the bill is introduced in Parliament. This, it said, will be the beginning one of the fiercest battles fought by the Indian working class.

The insurance employees are determined to organise mass protests in the next two months. There is a possibility of bank and insurance employees joining hands for a stiff fight against the government, industry observers said.
