NSE sustains uptrend; Nifty up over three points, 907.40
Market sentiment continued its uptrend and pivotals moved up marginally at the National Stock Exchange today. The total turnover was Rs 11.63 billion from 52.6 million shares. About 39 securities hit their price bands. S&P CNX Nifty ended at 907.40, rising by 3.80 points. It opened at 903.15 and witnessed a high and low of 913.20 and 897.20 respectively. CNX Nifty Junior closed at 1487.75, losing 8.85 points. S&P CNX Defty ended at 740.30, showing a net gain of 4.25 points. S&P CNX 500 and CNX Midcap 200 lost 0.35 and 2.98 to close at 611.40 and 524.45 points respectively. ITC recorded the highest turnover of Rs 1.93 billion followed by Reliance (Rs 1.62 billion), Satyam Computers (Rs 1.24 billion), SBI (Rs 974.3 million), Zee (Rs 711.3 million) and Pentafour Software (Rs 602.9 million). The top five gainers were HPCL, East India Hotels, IPCL, BPCL and Reliance while TVS Suzuki, Grasim, Andhra Valley, MTNL and ICICI were the top five in the list of scrips that shed value.
