Getting some reprieve, Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt will remain out of jail for another month after the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act court on Monday decided to provide the star a copy of the judgement sending him to jail for six years in the Mumbai serial blasts case only on September 27.
Dutt (48), who is on interim bail granted by the Supreme Court on August 20, was directed to surrender once he gets the full copy of the verdict.
Dutt came to the TADA court on Monday with his lawyers saying they were asked to collect the verdict copy.
He spent nearly three weeks in jail after Judge P D Kode pronounced the judgment before the apex court gave him relief.
The apex court had said that Dutt and five other convicts, who got a breather, can apply for regular bail and file an appeal against the TADA court verdict after getting its copy.
Dutt was also asked to be present at the office of CBI, which is the prosecuting agency in the case, once every week.
In a brief interaction with reporters, Dutt said he had full faith in the country's judiciary.
"I love my people. I love my fans. Thanks. Thank you very much. I thank the press. Thank you very much for being supportive," he said.
The TADA court also decided that other convicts in the case, apart from Sanjay and his accomplices, held under the Arms Act, will start getting copies of their judgments from September 14.
Twelve of the 100 convicts were sentenced to death by while 20 others were awarded life imprisonment.
Dutt was acquitted of the charges under the stringent TADA, but held guilty under the Arms Act for possessing weapons in a notified area.
