The Delhi police on Wednesday arrested pro-reservation activist Dr Udit Raj, chairman, All India Confederation of SC/ST Organisations.

He was trying to sit on a dharna in All India Institute of Medical Sciences grounds where the pro-quota doctors' fast has been going on for the past few days.

According to the press release by the confederation, one person was seriously injured in the melee and admitted to hospital. SC/ST and OBC doctors belonging to AIIMS who wanted to participate in the protest were also arrested.

Dr Raj told reporters, "Despite Supreme Court orders anti-reservationists have been holding demonstrations within the AIIMS premises at the instigation of the AIIMS Director Venu Gopal."

'What more do the upper castes want?'

The pro-reservation front is demanding that just as anti-reservationists have been allowed to hold protests within AIIMS premises, they should also be allowed to hold protests there. Dr Raj said, "All rules have been thrown to the winds by the anti-reservationists."
