The Jammu and Kashmir police claimed on Saturday that they have busted the module responsible for the serial bomb blasts, which took place in Srinagar on Friday.

Five persons were killed and 37 injured, including 10 security men, during the seven grenade explosions.

"We have arrested nine militants of Jaish-e-Mohammed in raids during Friday night. We also recovered a large quantity of explosive devices and ammunition," Gopal Sharma, J&K police chief, told a press conference in Srinagar on Saturday morning.

"By the time the seventh grenade exploded at the busy Bohri Kadal chowk in downtown Srinagar, the police had collected vital clues about the identity of the perpetrators. They also started follow-up action," Sharma said.

The police chief said that consequently, the Srinagar police sezied a minibus from which large quantities of explosives and ammunition were recovered. He said that investigations had led to the arrest of the nine militants.

"Interrogations are on and more arrests are likely as we unravel links to the blasts," Sharma said.
