Located in the Shamsabari mountain range, the state authorities were trying hard to reach four remote villages of Tangdhar, which are inaccessible even two days after the devastating earthquake shook Jammu and Kashmir.
Director-General of Police Gopal Sharma said that teams of local police along with relief and medical supply had begun their journey on foot to reach these villages.
The four villages were earmarked for immediate relief supply after there was no news about the fate of the villagers, sources in the state government said.
Sharma, however, could not give any further details and said the situation would be clear only after the teams reached these villages, which could not be accessed due to heavy landslides.
Tangdhar is a border area located very close to the Line of Control and the Shamasbari mountain range demarcates its boundary with Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir.
Government sources said that helicopters attempted an aerial survey of these villages but could not complete it due to dense forests.
