Former Patna district magistrate Gautam Goswami, a key accused in the multi crore-flood relief scam in Bihar, on Monday moved the Patna high court for anticipatory bail by challenging the special's court order denying him anticipatory bail.
Goswami has been evading arrest ever since a non-bailable warrant was issued against him.
Goswami's lawyer Tuhin Shankar told rediff.com that he filed the petition in the court on behalf of Goswami, and that the petition is likely to be listed for hearing in a day or two.
The designated Vigilance Judge Jitendra Mohan Prasad had on June 6 turned down Goswami's anticipatory bail application.
The vigilance judge had on May 31 issued non-bailable warrants against Goswami and eight others, including Santosh Jha, the alleged kingpin of the scam.
Goswami's lawyer hinted that his client would either surrender or move a superior court if the high court rejects his bail plea.
Last week, the Sahara group terminated Goswami's service.
Goswami was named as Asian Hero by Time magazine, which said he did brilliant work during the flood relief operation last year.
