One killed, 18 hurt in J&K blast

One person was killed and 18 injured, including four Border Security Force soldiers, in a grenade explosion at Kupwara in North Kashmir [ Images ]

The police said militants hurled the grenade at a BSF near Jamia mosque of the district.

"Due to the explosion 18 persons were injured. They included four BSF troopers. The injured were taken to the nearby sub-district hospital for treatment," a police officer here said.

Doctors referred three seriously injured civilians to Srinagar [ Images ] for specialised treatment.

No one has yet claimed responsibility for the blast.

Meanwhile, two army soldiers were killed and an equal number wounded when militants attacked a party of security forces near Danseer village in central Budgam district late last night.

The injured troopers were taken to hospital.
