Two Amarnath pilgrims killed in accident, 50 hurt

Two Amarnath pilgrims were killed and 50 injured, six of them seriously, when a bus carrying them rolled down into a gorge at Banihal in Doda district on Tuesday.

The bus, which was part of a convoy carrying pilgrims from Jammu to Pahalgam base camp, skidded off the road and fell into a 100-metre deep gorge on the Jammu-Srinagar Highway at Chamalwas, official sources said.

Most of the pilgrims in the bus belonged to Madhya Pradesh [ Images ], they said.

While two pilgrims died on the spot, the 50 injured have been admitted to Government Medical College Hospital in Jammu.
