The Andhra Pradesh government on Thursday shifted Additional Director-General of Police (intelligence) A Siva Sankar to the AP State Road Transport Corporation after a probe by the state advisor on VVIP security reportedly blamed 'intelligence failure' for the assassination bid on Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu in Tirupati on October 1.

Security advisor S Subramanyam, who was asked by the government to look into the security lapses that led to the bid on the CM's life, has submitted his report to the chief minister's office.

K Durga Prasad, who was joint managing director (vigilance) in APSRTC, will be the new inspector-general of police (intelligence).

Subramanyam said the intelligence department failed to take note of repeated threats by the outlawed People's War to target Naidu.

The government, soon after the attack, in which one of Naidu's ministerial colleagues and two MLAs were also injured, had suspended Chittoor Superintendent of Police Naveen Chand and shifted Chittoor District Collector Sai Prasad and Deputy Inspector-General of Police (Anantapur Range) A V Narayana.
