Sadananda R in Chamarajnagar

The Karnataka Special Task Force on Thursday arrested two persons in connection with the abduction of former state minister H Nagappa by forest brigand Veerappan.

The two were arrested from the forest area where Veerappan was believed to be hiding.

With this, the total number of people arrested in connection with the case has gone up to four.

Police officials said they were questioning the two at the Gundal base camp.

Combing operations were on to nab the forest brigand and Inspector General of Police Kempaiah was leading the forces from the front, sources said.

Though, he was not given any official posting, Kempaiah had been given a free hand to deal with the situation, the sources claimed.
