Elephants kill three persons in Orissa

A group of wild elephants killed three persons and injured six others in a village in Orissa's Keonjhar district, officials of the wildlife department said on Tuesday.

The dead have been identified as Para Munda (32), Suniya Munda (6) and Lagat Munda (4).

According to forest officials, a group of about 16 wild elephants from the nearby forest appeared in Khireitangi village and attacked the villagers.

The elephants damaged a number of houses in Khireitangi and neighbouring villages, they said.
