32 hurt in J&K blasts

Mukhtar Ahmad in Srinagar

Thirty-two persons, including two policemen, were wounded in two grenade explosions in the capital city and in central Badgam district Friday afternoon.

Police sources said two policemen were wounded when militants hurled a grenade on a police party in front of the heavily guarded telecom headquarters in the city centre of Lal Chowk.

The area was later cordoned off and searches mounted.

Police said the injured were shifted to hospital.

A report from Chadoora, in central Badgam district, said militants hurled a grenade on a patrol of the security forces, which missed the target, resulting in injuries to 30 civilians.
