Gopal returns, Veerappan fumes

A Correspondent in Madras

The emissary of the Karnataka and Tamil Nadu governments and Nakkeeran editor R R Gopal returned from the jungles to Madras early Saturday with a message from brigand Veerappan.

He will meet Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi later in the day.

The latest issue of Nakkeeran, which hit the stands Saturday, says that Veerappan is livid over the escape of hostage Nagappa Maradagi.

The magazine also says that the bandit is running out of patience. Veerappan would have killed Nagappa if the bandit had found him in the jungles, the magazine said.
