Dr Rajakumar's family to observe fast

E-Mail this report to a friend

Upset over the hostage drama getting prolonged, Kannada thespian Dr Rajakumar's actor son Shivarajakumar on Thursday said the family would go on a fast for the release of his father from the captivity of forest brigand Veerappan.

"We will observe a hunger strike. We will give up food," he told reporters amid a procession by the Kannada film industry to pressurise the Karnataka government to make more efforts to secure Dr Rajakumar's release.

He did not, however, specify from when the fast would be observed.

Shivarajakumar said the crisis had been a traumatic experience and, "We do not know how to express our agony."

Echoing his brother's sentiments, Raghavendra Rajakumar said, "We want our father back."

Asked if he was satisfied with the steps taken by the state government so far, Shivarajakumar evaded the question.
