Four ultras killed in Jammu: PTIFour hardcore militants, including a self-styled commander of the Hizbul Mujahideen, were killed and a woman injured in separate encounters in Doda, Rajouri and Poonch districts where troops recovered a huge quantity of arms and ammunition since Thursdayyesterday, an official spokesman said in Jammu Friday. The spokesman said Rashtriya Rifles troops shot down two ultras of Hizb's Pir Panjal Regiment at Chapai Marg forests of Doda district in an encounter yesterday. One of the slain militants has been identified as Raja Jagir Bhadar, the self-styled Hizb commander for Doda. The other ultra is Sayeed Majeed of Surankote area of Poonch district. Recoveries from the site of encounter include two AK rifles with six magazines, five grenades and one radio set. In a separate incident, RR troops killed a foreign mercenary of the Harkat-ul-Mujahideen at Kalani village in Poonch district Thursday evening. He has been identified as Abdul Jhabar of Ganjoo Mandi area of Pakistan. Security forces recovered one AK-56 rifle, one magazine and 26 rounds, besides a remote control for an improvised explosive device from the slain militant. Another militant was killed by security forces in an encounter in Saujian area of Poonch district. Reports from Doda said a woman, Hamida Begum, was critically injured when unidentified gunmen entered her house at Soti village in Gandoh tehsil and opened fire on her. PTI |
