Former police officer joins JD, to contest from Bombay North-West

Former Bombay additional police commissioner A A Khan formally joined the Janata Dal on Monday and will be the party's candidate from the Bombay North-West constituency.

His joining the party and candidature was finalised during former prime minister and senior Janata Dal leader H D Deve Gowda's visit to the state earlier last week.

Khan, a former IPS officer, will now face Shiv Sena candidate and chief whip of the party in the dissolved Lok Sabha, Madhukar Sarpotdar and Samajwadi Party candidate and Mahatma Gandhi's great grandson Tushar Gandhi.
