His 35 wickets in the five-match series against England in 1972-73 (@ 18.91) are the maximum by an Indian in a Test series. His figures of 12 for 104 against Australia at Melbourne in 1977-78 are the best for India in an overseas Test. His 23 ducks are the most by an Indian in a Test career. Shares the world record of recording most 'pairs' in Test cricket with Courtney Walsh, Mervyn Dillon and Marvan Atapattu. Holds the world record of most single digit scores in consecutive innings -- 32 from 1967-68 to 1975-76 Holds the unusual record of aggregating more wickets than the runs -- in Tests as well as first-class career.
