Ahead of the three-member Indian team's visit to assess security arrangements for the forthcoming tour, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) along with various police agencies has begun security drills at the proposed venues including Karachi.
The Board, which has promised presidential level security to the Indian cricketers, has formed a two-member committee headed by PCB Spokesman Sami-ul Hassan to review security measures and organise drills at all the venues.
"We propose to make detailed presentations to the Indian security team at all the proposed venues when they visit Pakistan," Hassan said.
The Indian officials are expected to arrive in Pakistan in the second week of February after the Eid holidays but Hassan said the dates have not yet been worked out.
Considering the apprehensions among the Indian players and officials about security, the committee would effectively demonstrate the arrangements when the experts arrive early next month to look at all the proposed venues including Karachi and Peshawar.
India has expressed reservations about playing at the two venues where the previous touring sides had refused to play.
Hassan said the security team, which included another senior official Major Javed Manj, was currently visiting all the venues to prepare detailed reports about the arrangements.
He said the newly elected PCB committee was working in close association with top officials of the local police agencies.
In addition to the security measures for the two teams, the committee would also supervise the arrangements being made for the large contingent of mediapersons expected from India to cover the matches, besides the thousands of fans expected to cross the border to watch their heroes in action.
The PCB expects that large number of Indian fans would travel to Pakistan to watch the matches at places like Lahore, Multan, Faisalabad and Rawalpindi in the Punjab province connected through the Wagah border when the two arch-rivals clash in three Tests and five One-Day matches.
