The Indian cricket team's tour of Pakistan is "definitely" on and will be held as per schedule, from the first week of March, Board of Control for Cricket in India chief Jagmohan Dalmiya said in Kolkata on Saturday.

Dalmiya said the itinerary and other details of the tour, which will have three Tests and five one-dayers, will be finalised within a week after the three-member delegation returns from Pakistan.

The BCCI president described the government's decision as "cricket friendly".

"India would be touring Pakistan after 14 years and not only do I envisage an excellent tour from the cricketing stand point but it would also help in strengthening the bond of friendship between the people of the two nations," he said.

"Since the tour has been cleared, we presume that the security measures are in place and adequate.

"We have repeatedly said that we will go by the government's advice and we are not willing to talk about anything that we don't know," said Dalmiya, in reference to speculative reports about the tour being postponed or cancelled in recent days.

He said players' concerns regarding security and other aspects would also be taken into account before finalising the schedule.

"The players are returning from a long and strenuous tour. We will look after their comfort, both physical and mental, and make sure they are able to produce their best," he added.
